About
Forest music for forest people.
Spawned deep in the misty, tangled forests of the Pacific Northwest, On Idyl combines churning guitar textures, searing melodies, and ambient excursions that are at once grounded, weaving through well-trodden, maple-tinged trails, but untethered to nostalgia, seeking new atmospheres to explore.
Influenced by ambient, post-punk, goth, shoegaze, post-rock, and psychedelic, On Idyl attempts to blend these into something hopefully independent and unique.
In January 2024, On Idyl joined forces with Passed Recordings. Operating as a collective, the label comprises members from Sweden, the UK, US, Brazil, Canada, and Germany making atmospheric music in multiple genres including ambient, electronic, noise, and post-rock.
On Idyl is the studio recording project of John Overturf. He likes beer. And guitar pedals. He hopes one day to print music onto physical media like records and CDs (okay fine, maybe tapes, too). And have a modular setup. And maybe have some merch. He'd be good at designing merch, we promise.
